Replacement of the Chair in Population Geography and Demography

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Patrick Sakdapolrak

Patrick Sakdapolrak is the new Professor for Population Geography and Demography.

Since the beginning of the year Patrick Sakdapolrak has been leading the Research Group on Population, Environment and Development at the Department of Geography and Regional Research. Before coming to Vienna, he was the leader of a research group looking at issues of migration and environment at Bonn University. His work on health vulnerability in India was awarded the special prize (the KfW-Förderpreis) for excellent practice-relevant research in the field of development studies. He has studied Geography and Development Research in Heidelberg and Wollongong (Australia). At the Department of Geography and Regional Research he wants to investigate population dynamics at the nexus of environmental change and social transitions.
